Coaching and Mentoring Services
Phillip Butler, PhD
My coaching and
mentoring process is designed to enable you, my client, to
achieve your full potential. I use a non-directive approach
that empowers you to be the expert decision-maker of your
own life and goals. The focus of our work will be you, the
individual, and not your work-related problems or issues.
My coaching and
mentoring process follows these guidelines and techniques:
1) My role in the
process is to assist you in the exploration of your needs,
motivations, desires, skills and thought processes so as to
enable you to make real and lasting life changes. This
involves your own visualization and working out the pathway
to achieve your personal dreams and goals.
2) I use
questioning techniques to facilitate your thought processes.
I am there for you, to listen and to ask questions that help
you understand your own life situation. In this manner you
will be able to identify your own solutions and actions
rather than my taking a directive approach.
3) I assist and
support you, the client, in setting appropriate goals and in
creating methods of assessing progress towards your goals.
4) I also use
some creatively applied tools, techniques and psychological
instruments which help you understand your strengths and
limitations with respect to your current situation and your
desired aspirations.
5) I facilitate,
encourage and help monitor your commitment to action, for
development of lasting personal growth & change.
6) I maintain
unconditionally positive regard for you the client by being
supportive and non-judgmental of your views, lifestyle and
aspirations.
7) I provide
ongoing assistance to evaluate the outcomes of our process,
using objective measures wherever possible, to ensure that
our relationship is successful and that you the client are
achieving your personal goals.
8) I always
ensure that my clients develop their own competencies and I
do not advocate unhealthy dependencies on our coaching and
mentoring relationship.
9) I maintain
unconditional and total confidentiality with all my clients.
In addition to
coaching and mentoring, I have facilitated over 100
executive sensitivity, or T-groups, for National Training
Laboratories, The American Management Association and The
United States Navy.
I work only in
the beautiful and inspirational area of Monterey, California
where I often include golf outings and nature walks to
facilitate our work together. I am a long-time student of
the inner game of golf. And I have been a volunteer docent
(nature guide) at Point Lobos State Reserve for 20 years.
My clients enjoy coming to Monterey where
I can assist in arranging your lodging and transportation.
Sessions are available for one, two or three days. Our daily
schedule will be quite full, so while you are here I ask for
total commitment to our process. This means no calls,
computer or other business-related distractions. For further
information on daily schedules and costs, please email me at
the contact provided on this web site.
